Editor’s note: While the Lord tells Peter to essentially “mind his own business” concerning John’s death, the Lord’s word tells us to lovingly admonish and address sin in the lives of our brothers and sisters (cf. Gal 6:1f; Mt 18:15f.; Col 3:16; Eph 4:14-15) — sin that can lead to spiritual death (Jas 5:19-20, etc.).

Church leaders, of course, should be especially ready to admonish (Col 1:28) and refute those who are in error (Titus 1:9). And though we may not be able to argue and convince as well as Paul and Apollos (Ac 17:2-4, 18:27-28, etc.) ), all Christians should be ready to make a defense for our faith(fulness) (1 Pet 3:15) .
