Rev. Dr. Danny Eugene Scotton, Sr. has served as the Senior Pastor of the Alpha Baptist Church in Willingboro, New Jersey since September of 2002.  Dr. Scotton is a servant-leader who has brought a do-as-I-do approach to the ministry of Alpha Baptist.  He is a native of High Point, North Carolina, where he was born the eighth of eleven children to the late, Lovell and Tommie Pearl Scotton.  He relocated with his family to the Northeast (NJ and PA) at the age of five.  After a successful academic and athletic career at Bensalem High School in Bensalem, PA, he received a full athletic scholarship in wrestling from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

At Northwestern, he began to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming an electrical engineer.  He graduated with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and was awarded the degree of M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ.  Dr. Scotton worked as an Electrical Engineer for over twenty years serving in numerous positions from Design Engineer to Senior Program Director.

He also completed his Doctor of Ministry (D. Min) degree in Leadership of Missional Church Renewal at Palmer Theological Seminary.  He continues to use the research from his Doctoral Project to transform Alpha Baptist into a church with a Missional Ecclesiology.

God’s anointing on Dr. Scotton’s pastorate has been evidenced by the tremendous numerical and spiritual growth of Alpha Baptist Church.  He says that his greatest accomplishment at Alpha is that he has had the privilege of baptizing over 800 new believers in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Dr. Scotton has received numerous awards for his service and has been active in multiple community organizations that are working hard to improve our community.  He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and works with other organizations for community improvement.  He has served as a member of the Executive Board of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey, and a member of the Executive Board of the Greater Delaware Valley Association of American Baptist Churches.

Dr. Scotton’s partner in ministry and marriage is his college sweetheart, the former Linda L.
